Older commercial buildings give parts of Logan Road and Stanley Street smaller tenancies, visible street entries and a distinctive scale. That physical pattern supports a different business mix from an enclosed shopping centre.
Change needs close attention
Heritage character does not freeze a building in time. New uses, maintenance and development can keep a place active, but alterations should be assessed for how they retain significant fabric and the fine-grained street frontage.
